Postroddsföreningen announces that it is 25-year anniversary this year. The event starts on Holmön at 9.00 on Saturday morning. During friday, the boats will arrive to Holmön and participate in the events on Friday evening. Stay over night to Saturday and see the start at 9.00 directly before a slightly delayed departure of the ferry. | ||||

Destination Holmön was an info sheet issued by HUF during the development project. Destination Holmön has now been re-issued to give info to those who do not have internet. 06-06-14 Bus to and from Umeå to the ferry |
One problem with the new schedule for the ferry
is that the bus schedule is not fully compatible with the ferry schedule.
This is the current situation. The morning tour is compatible both ways. For the tour in the middle of the day, it is possible to take the bus to Norrfjärden and wait about 1 h for the ferry. There is, however, no connection to Umeå, when the ferry arrives. For the afternoon tour the bus waits for the ferry unless it is delayed. This means that there is functioning connection both ways to the afternoon tour with the ferry, although one has to wait for the ferry about 20 min. |

06-06-12 High speed internet |
The tests with high-speed internet has turned out well. Punkt R (Gillis Wikander) offers now, in a fist part, high-speed internet to permanent residents on Holmön, who have received an e-mail with the offer. Permanent residents are urged to check their e-mail and contact Gillis if they are interested. Gillis is at the moment here on Holmön and is happy to answer any questions. Kurt Edlund will be responsible for the technical support here on Holmön. | ||||

The blasting is now completed and the ferry runs in an ice track from jetty to jetty almost on schedule. | ||||

The ice blasting today took longer time than
expected. At time for the afternoon tour about 300 m of solid ice remained.
The ferry had to stop at the inner green buoy. This means that the passengers
had to walk about 300 m on the ice.
The blasting will continue during the evening and i expected to be finalised so the ferry can reach the jetty at tomorrow morning tour. |

The ferry now runs on schedule in an ice track
from Byviken to the outer green buoy in Norrfjärden. Passengers
have to walk out to the ferry, approx. 1.5
km from the harbour. Rubber boots are recommended! Alternatively go with the
hydrocopter that will run between land and the green buoy. There will be extra tours in the morning on Friday, Sunday and Monday, departing at 09.00 from Holmön. |

The ferry communication has been cancelled for
the time being. The ice in the track is too rough for the ferry. The ice
breaker management advice against operating in East Kvarken. Yhis means that
Kronö can not assist the ferry as long as it is ice pressure east of Holmön.
The hydrocopter is at place and will begin traffic this afternoon. For reservations call Peter Tornberg, tel 070-6908503. The track in the ice can be opened on Wednesday at the earliest. This weekend, the ice will be checked and if it is thick enough staking out the track will commence. |

Ulrika Messing answers that the ferry line to Holmön cannot be regarded as infra structure since it does not compensate a bridge and only takes occasional cars. The communication with Holmön shall be public traffic like all other local communications. This is alarming.
